Live Event Crew and LinkedIn. Resource or waste of time?

How many artist managers, road managers, event planners or people tasked with finding road or event personnel used LinkedIn? Many of us understand the dynamic of first call, second call, third call, hey do you know anyone call. I am curious how LinkedIn has or has not worked as a tool to attract the attention of decision makers in the specialized or "outside the norm" world of entertainment. There are tons of profiles on LinkedIn of people quite fluent in touring, event execution, and other entertainment-centric positions with specialty jobs like Ableton tech, Video Content Creator, Lighting Designer, Tour Manager, Production Manager, Stage Manager, Performer, FOH or Monitor Engineer, Project Manager, Coordinator or any of the other special skill set that falls under the umbrella of touring or event personnel. If you're a freelancer face it you market a business. The business of YOU. If you aren't the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd call what works in marketing yourself? Facebook an...

Gary J Brunclik has left the building

As I close out my NorCal adventure, I want to reflect on the great people I have met and worked with along the way.   I have been extremely lucky and blessed to have spent the past six years supporting the arts of northern California in a different capacity than I have in the past. Not a different role, but rather different dialects of entertainment I have been lucky to experience. Although all of them fall under my role as production or project manager, however it was a departure from touring or production company support.                                                                             ...

My Colorful History

HISTORY Having started my career as a musician and sound engineer, I decided in the early 80’s to become an audio engineer basically because I decided I liked eating and paying my bills more than I liked being a legend in my own mind. From the early 80’s I was blessed to work sound in a large club in Milwaukee WI that was hosting acts such as Dire Straits, the Police, The Plasmatics, Alvin Lee, U2, Tim Curry, The Pretenders, The Cars, Todd Rundgren, U2, AC/DC so many supergroups of today in their infancies. Also a few talent searches that produced a few regional upstarts such as Yipes .  Milwaukee while not being the hub of the music industry did produce the BoDeans and the Violent Femmes. It was a great learning environment patching analog gear to construct mixes from consoles that were not designed for monitor mixing. BGW amps, Phase Linear amps, with Neptune 31 band equalizers. I can remember having to pan subgroups on a twenty-four channel Kelsey board to get eight un-dis...

ABOUT ME - Gary J Brunclik Live Event Entertainment Production Manager

High CGR - About Gary Brunclik I spent thirty years in rock and roll with all the decadence and debauchery that went with it. Some of it I liked. My career in the world of rock and roll has had me in such roles as tour manager, production manager, sound engineer, audio tech, account executive, project manager, labor coordinator, and consider myself well versed in wearing multiple hats. Many have implored me to write a book about all the stories I have amassed over the years and I will chronicle those on subsequent posts and blogs. Some hilarious, some frightening, some tepid, some wild, but all relatable in some way fashion or form. However, that being said i have also been blessed enough to have been active in corporate events, (yes I can switch roles without that "edge") political events, theme based events, product rollouts, orchestral events, operatic shows, dance shows, speaker events, film events, music festival management, production company provider and I'm sure a...
